Design Challenges
The Exhibition traces Nam June Paik’s : career over five decades, including early musical scores, videos, altered TVs, robots, and large-scale installations. How does the design reflect Nam June Paik’s works?
Solution 1 Left: The “Indian Head Test Pattern” was an important technical guide for the old school/vintage TVs/broadcasts that Nam June Paik and anyone from that era would be familiar with. This image is considered a cultural icon from the era when much of Nam June Paik’s work was first introduced.
Solution 2 Right: SMPTE color bars are a television test pattern used where the NTSC video standard is utilized. The original pattern is easily recognizable and memorable.
The solutions redesigns both iconic looks as key visuals for the event.
The Invitation
Both physical and digital invitations were proposed for the event.
The Signage
2 forms of signage were propose.
Version 1 reflects Nam June Paik’s work. using the tv as standing to capture people’s attention.
Version 2 reflects the art gallery itself by using easel as directional signage.
Immersive experience to showcase Nam June Paik’s works.
